1000KV = 1000000 volts which should jump almost 30cm through air (found 3.4MV/m on internet) At 1-2cm it sparks. At 3-4 a thin blue line was visible (or result of previous ionization). Suggests 30-120KV. Any further seems not to spark (didn't wait too long as not to damage the device. The power usage is weird. With a 1A power supply i managed to control spark frequency with current limiting knob. Voltage stayed around to 2 volts (analog meter on supply) and could not move higher before past max current. Also as soon as it discharges the current jumps off the scale (> 1Amp) . Both pieces i have behave the same. Not sure if incorrect specifications or something else. Possibly a lot more amps than specified but definitely current a limiter seems necessary to protect any normal power supply.

WhatNameNowBGAccount Update: one broke down (it sounds like an isolation breakdown) after using it for a longer with all bursts less than 5 seconds. It was warm. So duty cycle is much less than expected. You should probably use it for very short bursts of 1-2 sec max. and then keep it off at least 10-15 times longer than that.
