I cleaned some board and drew 7 lines on it. I then let it dry and went over 6 of those again, then over five, then four... so I had seven lines ranging from one to 7 coats of etch resist. Etched in ferric chloride solution and all lines came out wonderfully. There was no difference between the line with one coat and the line I'd covered seven times. Only down-side is that the tips are quite big so fine tracks are an issue.
