These are solidly built torches, made from aluminium. Unfortunately one is not working and I am in the process of getting it repaired or replaced, but the other torch works fine. To the naked eye these torches look terribly weak... like trying to use the glow of a burning cigarette to see in the dark. But these are both bright in frequencies human eyes cannot see so we just see a weak glow, but through night vision devices and IR capable cameras they are bright like spotlights. You can use these torches to light up dark areas, but people without night vision devices will just think are dark. In rooms that are totally dark these torches will light up the room so you can see better than any generation of image intensification scope worth thousands of dollars. It is different from thermal imaging. Using these torches together with optical night vision equipment including new digital night vision devices means you can see in totally dark areas with a high quality view without spending thousands of dollars.

This torch comes in four different versions. Two different frequencies (850nm and 940nm) and two different bulb types, LED and Laser. I bought all four. Twice. If you don't understand what they are you will be very disappointed because when you put a battery in them they are very very dim. A red about as bright as the glow of a burning cigarette. This is because the human eye can't see light in either of these frequencies, you only see a dim glow because it does give off a tiny amount of light in the visible red spectrum. If you have a phone with night vision, or night vision goggles however, these are spotlights that are very bright and allow you to see things hundreds of metres away in total darkness. These are active IR torches and together with very cheap image intensification or even modern digital colour night vision devices allow you to see very clearly at night. They are not good for military use because everyone else with night vision will see you and everything you light up will be lit up for them too. For hunting or nature spotting it is ideal because you don't want to be secret from other people. With normal digital night vision with phones when there is no light then the view is dark at distances beyond the built in LED such phones often have. These very reasonably priced torches will extend the view distance enormously. They are heavily made and strongly built. Two of the torches I bought were faulty and did not work. These were replaced at not charge to me. You can judge a good product by how well they are supported. With this support level from the supplier I can confidently say these are fantastic and if you think you might ever use one buy now while they are available, for the performance and price they are excellent. Together with a night capable phone you can look down totally dark alleys and see everything clearly like you are shining a bright torch down there. No one else will see the light and will not know they can be seen. Very Happy.
