Its easy and straightforward, no unnecessary buttons. Nothing complicated. Plug in t he machine, add coffee, add water, press the button, wait about a minute or two and presto: your fresh cofee is all ready. Wait a couple of minutes to cool down (drink your cofee meanwhile) and you can clean the whole thing. I think for hiking there are more compact machines, but for office and holiday it is a great choice, handy and small.
