Jorgensen Chamfer plane is kind of tool every woodworker wants to own to chamfer without electricity devices hassle. Well packaged,well made,precise detailing. Four sharp irons out of the box,ready to cut wood. But some sharpening always improves the iron sharpness. The plane sole is even and flat but generates too much friction if not properly sanded. I made number of passes on my diamond stones and improved plane sliding on wood. Some waxing of sole necessary too. There is little bit too much free movement on iron mechanism,but it does not prevent functional chamfering of edges. I did tests with two irons – on softwood and on hardwood. Cutter length must be increased by screw bit by bit. Nice,sharp chambers! The only substantial problem is plane aluminum body – aluminum oxide inevitably creates long streaks on both sides,every tome after chamfering itself substantial time and efforts is necessary to scrape out the dark-grey streaks from wood.
