The laser was received in good working order. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES AT ALL TIMES!!!! This is an OEM product, and the safety concerns noted below need to be addressed when handling the device and in the final product. I hope you know what you are doing when you purchase such a high power laser. A few minor points dropped the overall rating 1) There in no cable or connector supplied for the TTL input. (Nice to have). I may not be able to get the exact connector locally. 2) I would prefer to have different types of connectors for the different connections so that they cannot be accidentally interchanged. 3) On power up with open circuit TTL input signal, the laser came on at full power and burned a hole in its packaging within a second. 4) There was no manual or usage instruction supplied with the unit to inform of the operating requirements or danger. 5) With the input shorted, the unit powers up correctly. Pressing the low power button on the power supply results in a BRIEF, HIGH POWER FLASH followed by a low power continuous light. This may present a risk. 6) Microprocessor pins used to drive the TTL input directly will start in high impedance state and may result in a dangerous full power laser output until the pin is grounded. An external circuit is needed to manage any danger or negative effect on the work piece. To give an idea of the power of the device, a 5mm diameter hole was burned in the packaging within my reaction time. The unit had not been focused on the target. This unit will blind or burn you in an instant. Do not use in the presence of children or animals. Provide adequate safety shields and interlocks. Take care with reflected and dispersed beams by enclosing and shielding the work space properly. On the positive side, this is exactly what you bought the unit to do, right?

  • ncbigelow Have you had a chance to test yours with TTL control? I'm finding that mine has a voltage on the TTL connector even when the output from my control board is 0v. (Connected ttl to my control board with the 12v unplugged and the voltages read properly from 0v-5v but with the 12v connected, it wouldn't drop to 0v and would stay between 2.5-3.5 volts when it should have been 0v)

  • pirlouwi Same remark for me. Should we pull-down the TTL input pin?BTW, I suppose that TTL level is 5V, and so I need to use a voltage divider to transform the 12V PWM output coming out of my Ramps board?
