It needs to be assembled on arrival. It just takes a minute to get it perfectly square using a machinist square. The scale is accurate. The build is not as beefy as a Woodpeckers one, but it is strong enough for me. Like most other scribing rules, the holes are very small and require a 0.5mm mechanical pencil. They also send a ballpoint pen refill that fits. The mechanical pencil is best suited if it has a thin barrel to stabilize the lead; see picture. The blue points to the optimum barrel.
