Purchased this to monitor the kitchen fridge/freezer plus a freezer in the basement. The basement freezer is pretty close to the kitchen, but one level down. The basement sensor works intermittently, and loses the signal fairly often. It usually reacquires the signal eventually. Tried new batteries without improvement. I guess it can't work quite reliably over the distance (yes, the freezer has metal walls, this is to be expected for a freezer alarm!). I would recommend this for someone wanting to monitor one appliance, or two only if they are pretty close to each other and on the same level. Aside from that, it's a good unit. Has magnets built in so it'll stick to the fridge door. The display looks wonky viewed directly but shows up well when placed on a fridge door. Tests show both temperature sensors are consistent with each other, which is good. Alarm setting is pretty straightforward; alarms are noticeable but not irritating . Tip: Don't set the alarm until you run it for 48 hours to see what the variation in your freezer is - my fridge/freezer varies in temperature A LOT more than I thought it did.
