Laurie I wasnt sure, so I tested it. It works very well. The manufacturer should add this to their advertising. The magnetic field responded very well, the metal channel behind the plaster is about 50mm wide, the MT525 recorded a strong signal across 75mm.

Laurie Excellent product, range is good despite very thick walls and metalised wallboard between doorpush and sounders. Shame no UK adapter, I'm working on assembling unit into a wall box and attacing spade connectors. Just bought 2 additional sets for friends.
