Karmajun I agree it uses a conversion chip such as ithas CH340G usb-serial converter chip listed above, but I can't make out the chip labels in the picture. As far as the other answer about ATmega8 or ATmega16 - I'm not so sure of your question since I haven't seen anything like the CH340G referred to by either designation. I have seen the ATmega16U2 board advertised, but I'm not sure if it is what you are asking. I do know that the other answerer is wrong to state "there are no ATmega16 versions".
