Q: Clearly this hooks up to 5 volt usb power - but how do you adjust the output from 5v toward 3v, and what amperage is the maximum output? This sounds like a nice article, but without amperage or voltage adjustment instructions, what can we do with it?

This little voltage tester pen appears to be a plastic joke. It is so lightweight and colorful I thought I was holding a child's toy. Then I put the two AAA batteries in and tested a few outlets. It was fairly sensitive, it responded to the AC voltage just as it should. I flipped a few breakers and checked outlets again (I know, if I had common current because of some idiotic electrical wiring on this older home, I would get positive power on dead circuits since the circuit breaker only shuts off the "hot" wire in the circuit) and all the circuits I "killed" showed "No Voltage". I've rewired a few lights where the previous service screwed up the common and hot - and been shocked while installing a new light fixture or ceiling fan & light. Now I have a voltage tester for less than $10.00 (that I thought was too good to be true) and I'm thinking about getting two or three more! At this price, I would like to have a few spares even if they feel too lightweight and plasticky to be a working tool!

Took quite a while for delivery - but then you expect that when ocean shipping is the 'fast delivery'. When it finally was in stock for shipment, it was quickly (one month) sent on its way to the USA. While it wasn't in time for my son's birthday, it did arrive two and one half months after ordering. I anticipated only 6-8 weeks....but it was a full 11 weeks from order to delivery. So why - if it took so long - did I give it such a high rating? The plane was nearly a month after my son's birthday and as soon as he got it he thought it was the boss! He went out and played with it for about an hour, getting it stuck in a tree where we had to wait for the wind to blow it out. The next morning it was out and he played again. It flies well, it flies high, and my son was very, very pleased. Thank you!

It looks good in the picture, and it should work for a tiny chinese person. Maybe Xi Jinping or whatever they call him. I am a large male, 6' 4" (1.93m) and this thing won't fit me. It fits my sons and my wife, but it won't it me. I have trouble keeping my back straight while on the computer - so do my children - so they can use it. It is a good value for them. It sucks for me. Maybe we can find some velcro to add to it, but it is just too short in the straps and the back portion is not long enough - heck, my armpits go lower than the back piece comfortably sits. I've purchase several phenomenal things from the land of the tiny people, but this one item truly is for tiny people. Well made, but for tiny people.

Just received this model rheostat - potentiometer, and while it appears sturdy (the box was crushed & it came out looking like it was just manufactured) the issues I have are simple. I get that the core is an insulator, and that the wiper rod is a conductor, but the base appears to be electrically connected to the wiper making layout a little more complicated. I like to model things on a grounded base-plate and I'll likely need to mount this on an insulator with a small caution emblem so my students will observe their safety rules. But then, they are students and if they get shocked, they may learn something in my class! Clearly a nicely manufactured piece, I would have put the wiper riding rod on a clear insulator bracket instead of the same metal bracket holding the windings insulation core. I will check resistance of all the parts when I set it up for demo - the black collars on the wiper rod may well be insulators - the was it is constructed there is no way other than testing to tell. I shall have a friend of mine read the manual - I know how to use an old style open winding potentiometer but perhaps the 'manual' in Chinese gives some details that my mentors who remember Tesla may have forgotten to teach me.

Karmajun I agree it uses a conversion chip such as ithas CH340G usb-serial converter chip listed above, but I can't make out the chip labels in the picture. As far as the other answer about ATmega8 or ATmega16 - I'm not so sure of your question since I haven't seen anything like the CH340G referred to by either designation. I have seen the ATmega16U2 board advertised, but I'm not sure if it is what you are asking. I do know that the other answerer is wrong to state "there are no ATmega16 versions". Prior to Coronavirus, the SARS-CoV2 that originated in the caves of China - all I wanted was for my son and wife to have working HR and Blood Pressure monitoring on their wrists. They were pleased as soon as we charged them and they put them on. When we began to have cases of SARS-CoV2 here in the USA, we looked at the HR, BP, and O2 monitors - pretty nice and close to accurate! I would not anticipate these to be medical grade at this price point - and they really aren't - but they do not vary much at all when kept charged and worn by the same person! I take my family's blood pressure when there is an issue, checking respiration, HR, and even put on a finger Pulse Oximeter - and this little watch is close enough for me. I wouldn't use it to document my findings, but if it shows an increase in HR or a drop in BP - I would investigate! I recommend this to anyone who needs to monitor their HR, BP, and O2 levels. You can certainly find more expensive and more accurate devices, but not many that are so inconspicuous and consistent. Oh - yes, I am a physician and I DO know how to monitor someone's vitals for a medical record. These are the next best things to what I carry around in my emergency kit! And a heck of a lot lighter, too!
