Excellent for prototyping, but not beyond. For real world battery-powered usage this won't work well because it wastes a lot of power on the LED and the voltage regulator. I removed the LED (-4mAh), and will eventually just desolder the DHT and wire it directly to the ESP-01 (I don't need the regulator).

The USB interface does not have a programming switch. In order to program the ESP, two pins need to be shorted. Without this modification, the USB interface is only useful for serial monitoring. Instructions for doing this are fairly easy to find.
