Installed on a 35yr old Team Associated RC10 using Nimh 6-cell battery packs and works great. The ESC is small but not tiny, and the motor has a heavy solid feel. Wiring terminations are all black with black shrink tube which left me guessing and playing with matching the phases. FYI I also bought a lower kV motor (orange in photos) to ease this RC car into brushless, plus it looks great. I will be adding colored shrink tube for easier identification. Lower electrical resistance than a brushed setup so run times were longer and the car rolled freely down my driveway - brushed setup won't roll that easily. Plenty of power for the RC10 buggy and motor was not hot to touch after 2 battery packs of use. The fan on the ESC can be heard when standing next to the RC car, however this is my first brushless setup so I have nothing to compare it to. Overall I am very pleased at the performance for the price and have suggested it to my friends with similar cars.

Q: what are the dimensions of each battery pocket? Will a 135mm long x 45mm wide x 23mm thick battery fit? (5.3" x 1.8" x 1")?

Great value for the price, have already used it to test out multiple servos and helped me realize my old servos are slow and noisy! Wish the cover was little more robust this will knock around in my toolbox but can't complain given the price. all functions work well. I did hook it up to a new Surpass 60A Esc / 3.3kv 540 motor combo and worked as advertised. Yes I'd recommend this to friends

Q: Does this transmitter have Dual Rate for throttle to reduce maximum speed? I only see 4 buttons for trimming steering/throttle but not for Dual Rate.

Slick006 I think you are looking for EPA (End point adjustment) which allows you to set full throttle to less than 100%. I have not been able to find out how to do this, the instructions on the answer below do not work - holding the trim + or - only steps through trim and does not have any effect on end points. So I would say "no" this transmitter is more basic and only has trim settings to adjust the zero point - IE when you let go of steering the wheels are pointing straight. Take a look at DumboRC which is like $10 more and has what you are looking for.

Q: what kind of plugs are the channels female fitting?

Slick006 it is a standard 3 pin servo connector - JR style. Pinout is the same as any servo or esc. i have a 35yr old servo with JR style plug and it worked perfect with no modification or fussing about.

Slick006 there is no binding cable required. bind to receiver by pressing button on receiver.

Upgrading from AM Futaba transmitter on a 35yr old RC10 buggy and this controller is perfect! Starting with the transmitter: it's a smaller form factor and OK for me (6' 180lb) but great for my 4yr old boy who can grip it and work the trigger. Very basic settings limited to trim on CH1 and CH2. It does have a push button on/off CH3 for lights or other accessories. No frills design but I like that the handle detaches to get at the batteries, allows me to store it with my other transmitters easily. I'll be buying a second for my 7yr old girl's RC10T to get the safety/confidence of 2.4ghz vs AM.... The receiver is tiny! No trouble fitting it in these buggies, and really like the shorter antenna versus the long AM antennas. I'm only using CH1 and CH2, haven't tested CH3 operation. I've already suggested this to friends also dusting off their vintage RC toys. It's a great low cost solution to replacing AM and getting up and running again.
