Q: is there another case that can be bought?

Asked by GokuBuu on 2020-10-21 06:23:18

AndyReischle My „Type C“ order of the nanoVNA V2 came in a very nice case. Apart from that there are 3D models on Thingiverse.

Q: Is it really made of "alloy steel" like in the description?

Asked by PC317 on 2020-10-12 03:40:10

AndyReischle It is not magnetic, which does not rule out steel, but it may just as well be chrome plated zinc. The brass bits appear to be solid brass.

AndyReischle Ithink ist is this: github.com (slash) ThingPulse (slash) esp8266-oled-ssd1306 Some more info on the module is here in my blog: www.areresearch.net "the all-you-can-possibly-want-esp8266 dev board".

Q: Is there a pin for SSD1306 reset?

Asked by BG165481017 on 2020-08-24 06:38:34

AndyReischle No,there isn't, neither is there an "enable" pin. Keep in mind that SCL ist on pin 4 and SDA on pin 5. This is different from other ESP32 modules with OLEDs. I have an example project video on Youtube (Search for "5 Minute Project: TTGO ESP32 OLED Li-Ion board WebRadio") and a blog entry on my AReResearch blog with some additional info.

Q: How do i buy a battery for my Nano VNA Analyzer

Asked by BG365356163 on 2020-09-30 05:50:03

AndyReischle I used this: It does not fit the case perfectly, so I used a few washers to pad the spacers. - Provides great run-time for portable operation.

AndyReischle I have 4.3k and got one for review in 2018. Not sure if they still actively promote that model.

AndyReischle It is a typical RTL-SDR with the additional option to directly feed HF to the receiver (bypassing the tuner). There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube. The most important bit is to use Zadig to install the driver.

AndyReischle You might want to consider buying a portapack and a matching aluminium enclosure. That expands the possibilities without losing the traditional hackrf functionality. As for antennas: get one for the frequency you intend to work on. Telescopic whip antennas are a compromise when you want to cover a very wide range. (E.g. SRH789)

Q: does it send (TX) also on CB frequencies (27 MHz)?

Asked by BG454175714 on 2020-08-02 04:49:06

AndyReischle No. The product description is misleading. You need a ham radio license to use it on the uhf and vhf ham bands. Other frequencies on uhf+vhf are usually strictly regulated by national laws.

AndyReischle The original pack is most likely a pack of two LiFePo4 cells. These are safer and pose less of a fire hazard. The car will most likely run ok on the 7.4V pack. But it is up to you whether to take the risk or not. As you already mentioned, you also need a balancing charger. I couldn’t find any LiFePo4 packs on Banggood.

Q: Can you transmit on the 20 meter and 40 meter bands?

Asked by BG105216104 on 2020-07-30 05:40:44

AndyReischle Yes, although the TX power is very low and you shouldn’t drive a PA without bandpass + lowpass filters. In my experiments, I couldn’t switch between RX and TX with GNURadio, but that is more of a software issue. RX sensitivity is rather low compared to other SDRs, but local signals and strong HF can be received. I use it mainly for test purposes.
