From the pictures you can suggest that the two brightness levels are achieved by lighting the LEDs in groups of two, but actually all 4 LEDs are lit, but they just got dimmer and brighter. With 3 fully charged AAA rechargeable batteries the lamp runs at max power for about 2 hours, after that the light gradually gets dimmer and it lasts for about 24 hours (though not usable at the end). Overall -- a good purchase for the price.

I bought this to attach to a drill press. It does light up the work area and is able to minimise shade problems. I can see where a center punched hole is in a box where the sides normally shadow what I want to see. Having two light level settings is an asset and battery power is no problem because the duty cycle is low. I only need to have it on when making holes.
