I bought this, more expencive thermometer to be able to change the emissivity, since blanc metall surfaces have a much lower E value.

Le plus : j'ai eu la pile de 9V avec. Le moins : le mode d'emploi est en chinois. Cadeau : dans les photos, vous trouverez le mode d'emploi en anglais que j'ai obtenu chez le fabricant.

From time to time I have task to melt lead and make castings, so it is very helpful to have. Aside that, it may serve for detecting heat leak during winter time to save energy (it is not FLIR thermal camera, but point by point - it can be detected). Fast and realiable measurement. Just pay attention to EMS (emissivity of the material). While most materials has emissivity of arround 95% (or 0.95 as indicated), for example aluminum has 38% (you will get chart with various materials to set it properly). Laser aiming is great as well as white LCD illumination. Really good product. On picture below, showing my computer monitor has higher temperature at one corner.
