Q: when replacing servo, which position of the control sticks on the controller should stay, min, middle or max?

BG113248153 middle at all costs and make sure the throttle cut is on before changing the servo

Small, cheap, pretty durable I definitely recommend this for beginners and i got mines with in 2 weeks.
